Today, KBB.com recognized four Ford products as new vehicles with the lowest projected ownership costs in their classes by awarding them with 2016 5-Year Cost Own Awards, due to improvements including lower depreciation, insurance and maintenance costs than competitors.

The awards, based on Kelley Blue Book’s 5-Year Cost to Own data for new cars for the initial five-year ownership period, found Ford’s newest vehicles, including the 2016 Focus ST, F-150, Explorer and Mustang GT, to have the lowest estimated out-of-pocket expenses drivers will incur beyond the initial purchase price in their class.

While depreciation and fuel costs may be the greatest expense incurred in owning a vehicle, there are other factors that can have a significant impact on a consumer’s budget. Available on Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com for new models, 5-Year Cost to Own information takes into consideration depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees.

WHY THEY WON

2016 Ford Focus ST, Category: Sporty Compact Car
The sporty Focus ST beat out the competition due to lower depreciation and insurance costs.

2016 Ford F-150, Category: Full-Size Pickup Truck
F-150 has low Kelley Blue Book® Fair Purchase Price*, insurance and fuel costs.

2016 Ford Explorer, Category: Full-Size SUV
Explorer continues to beat the competition thanks to lower fuel and maintenance costs, along with a lower depreciation value.

2016 Ford Mustang GT, Category: High Performance Car
Mustang GT has strong residual values and a low Fair Purchase Price and maintenance cost.
